Dental Emergency
Dental crowns are "caps" placed over a tooth. The crown restores the original tooth shape, size and strength. If a tooth is damaged too much for just a filling, a crown is usually used. Your teeth can become damaged because of infection, decay or a traumatic injury. Dr. Visger and his staff at Trail Ridge Dental restore natural smiles and function of teeth with crowns. They would love to help you!
THE CEREC® SYSTEM
CEREC® stands for "Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic." This is a fancy description for a high-tech machine that allows us to create personalized dental restorations. With the CEREC® system, Dr. Visger can use 3D computer imaging to assess your teeth, create a model of them, and manufacture and install your crowns.
Best of all, all of this can be completed in one day, in our office! You won't have to drive across town to another lab or office to have your crown created. There are no impressions or trays filled with goop with this method, instead, everything is done with computer technology. Once the imaging is completed, Dr. Visger sends the images of your teeth to the CEREC® milling machine which manufactures the crown on site. He will select a piece of porcelain that most closely resembles the color of your natural teeth and then the machine will create your restoration. Once the crowns are made, they will be placed with a special cement to bond them in place.
It's that simple!
Crowns offer several benefits:
